Hailey Johnson was born on April 7, 1992. Hailey trained at Charter Oak Gliders through the 2009 season. She then moved to West Coast Elite. Hailey graduated from high school in 2010.
In 2004, Hailey competed level five. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Vegas Vacation. Hailey competed level seven in 2005. She finished third on vault at the Winter Sun Invitational. In 2006, Hailey competed level eight. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Long Beach Open. She won floor and the all-around at both the Flips USA Invitational and California Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault, beam and the all-around. Hailey won vault and the all-around at Regionals.
Hailey competed level nine in 2007. She finished third at the Golden State Friendship Challenge. She won beam and the all-around at the Top Flight Invite. Hailey won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished third on bars. She placed fourth on bars and 8th all-around at Westerns. She began competing level ten in 2008. She won the all-around at the California Classic. She finished first on bars and floor at the State Championships, where she also placed second all-around. Hailey finished third at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished fourth on beam and eighth all-around.
She continued to have strong results in 2009, despite not competing in most of the invitational season. Hailey won vault and beam at the State Championships. She finished second all-around. At Regionals, she finished third on floor and sixth all-around. Hailey placed 28th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2010, Hailey finished first on vault at the California Classic. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She finished fourth at Regionals. At JO Nationals, Hailey finished 18th all-around.
