Kullen Hlawek was born on December 27, 1994. She trained at North East Texas Twisters through the 2006 season. She then moved to WGA Texans until the spring of 2010. She began training at Champions Gymnastics in Katy, Texas. Kullen will graduate from high school in 2013.

In 2006, Kullen competed level eight. She qualified to Regionals. She moved up to level nine in 2007. Kullen finished in the op ten at the State Championships. She placed in the top fifteen at Regionals. She competed on three events at Westerns. She moved up to level ten in 2009. She finished second on floor at the Palm Beach Invitational. Kullen also finished second on floor at the State Championships. She placed third on floor at Regionals. Kullen tied for seventh all-around, becoming an alternate for JO Nationals. She won floor at the JO National Invitational Tournament.

Kullen won vault at the Sand Dollar Invitational and Metroplex Challenge in 2010. She won bars, floor and the all-around at the WOGA Classic. She finished first on vault at the Buckeye Classic. Kullen finished third on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on floor and eighth all-around. Kullen won vault and beam at the JO National Invitational Tournament. In 2011, Kullen finished first on vault, floor and the all-around at the Ricky Deci Invitational. She finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Alamo Classic. She placed fifth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on vault, third on bars, second on floor and third all-around. At JO Nationals, she placed third on vault.
