Courtney Horstman was born on March 31, 1996. She trained at Worldwide Gymnastics in New Jersey until 2006. She then switched to Monmouth Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2004, she competed as a level four. Courtney finished first on vault and bars at the State Championships. She jumped up to level eight in 2005! She finished twenty fourth all-around out of 49 competitors at the State Championships. In the fall, she qualified for the National TOPs Testing. She continued competing as a level eight in 2006. She won the Level 8 Sectional Meet. At States, she finished thirteenth. Courtney placed sixth on bars. She made the National TOPs "B" Team in the fall.

Courtney moved up to level nine in 2007. She made the National TOPs "A" Team in the fall. In late 2007, she finished third all-around at the Christmas City Classic. She also qualified to hopes pre-elite in December at Excalibur Gymnastics. At the 2008 Cherry Bowl meet, she finished second all-around. She won bars at the Star Struck Invitational. She finished third on beam and floor at the Metroplex Challenge in the hopes division. At the Level 9 State Championships, Courtney won the all-around title! She also won floor. At Regionals, Courtney finished second on vault and floor. She finished tenth all-around. This qualified her for the Level 9 Eastern Championships. She finished fifth on vault and floor at Easterns. In May, Courtney finished eighth overall at the US Challenge. She tied for second in optional vault.

Courtney won bars and beam at the Christmas City Classic as a level ten in late 2008. In January, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Parkettes Invitational. She won bars at the Star Struck Invitational. At States, she finished second on bars, floor and the all-around with a 37.225. In 2010, Courtney finished first on bars and floor at the Star Struck Invitational. She placed in the top ten at both the State and Regional Championships. In 2011, Courtney finished fourth all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She placed fourth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on bars and third all-around. Courtney finished 17th all-around at JO Nationals.
