Morgan Hurd was born on July 18, 2001. She trains at First State Gymnastics in Delaware. She will graduate from high school in 2019.

In 2010, Morgan competed level four. She finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the Star Struck Invitational. She won floor at the East Coast Classic. She placed third all-around at the Excalibur Cup. Morgan competed level five in 2011. She finished third all-around at the East Coast Classic. She won bars at the Arnold Challenge. Morgan grabbed gold medals on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and in the all-around at the State Championships. She placed second on vault and third on bars at the USA Open Championships. Morgan skipped level six and level seven. She competed level eight in 2012. She won bars at the Circle of Stars meet. She placed third all-around at the Winter Caribbean Invitational. She finished first on bars and floor at the Pink Invitational. She won beam at the Capital Cup. She competed at Regionals.

Morgan began competing level nine during the 2012-2013 season. She won floor at the Christmas City Classic. She placed first on beam at the City of Lights Invite. She competed at Regionals. Morgan started her level 10 season at the 2014 Magical Classic. She grabbed gold medals on uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around with a 38.125, qualifying to the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup. At the Tim Rand Invitational, Morgan placed first in the all-around with a 38.300 and first on uneven bars. In March, Morgan traveled to Greensboro, NC for the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup where she placed 14th in the all-around against some top junior gymnasts across the United States. At the State Championships, she placed second in the all-around and first on vault and uneven bars. Morgan placed eighth in the all-around and third on uneven bars at the Region 7 Championships and was the first alternate for the Junior Olympic Nationals. In May, Morgan attended development camp at the US Olympic Training Center where she qualified to HOPES pre-elite.
