Macy Hyatt was born on May 27, 1991. She trained at Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2009.

In 2003, Macy competed level eight. She moved up to level nine in 2004. She won bars at the Vegas Vacation meet. At Regionals, she placed first on floor. She competed level ten in 2005. She won bars at the Cancun Classic. At Regionals, she finished third on floor and seventh all-around. She competed at JO Nationals. She finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals in 2006. In 2007, Macy won vault, beam and the all-around at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She won all five gold medals at the Carolina Classic. Macy won vault and bars at the State Championships. She placed third all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed ninth on vault and fourth on bars. She finished 20th all-around. In 2008, she finished first on beam at the IGI Chicago Style. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she won all five gold medals. She finished first on floor at the State Championships. In 2009, Macy competed at the State and Regional Championships.

As a freshman at Illinois in 2010, Macy competed on vault once before suffering a season-ending elbow injury. During her sophomore season in 2011, Macy competed on bars several times.
