Susan Michelle Jackson was born to James and Karen in Houston, Texas on April 6, 1987. She has an older brother and an older sister. Susan began gymnastics in 1990. Her favorite event is vault. She trained at Brown's Houston during her club career. In 2006, the gym was renamed Stars.

In 1999, Susan competed as a national elite. At the US Challenge, she finished second all-around. She also finished second at the National Gymnastics Festival. At that meet, Susan won vault! In 2000, she qualified for junior international elite. At the American Classic, Susan finished in the top ten on vault and floor.

Her next meet was the US Clasic. Susan placed third on vault. More importantly, she qualified for the US National Championships. In St. Louis, Susan made her first US National Team! Following Nationals, she competed at the Junior Pan American Games. She placed second on floor and third on both vault and in the all-around.

Susan started her 2001 season off at the Magical Classic. She won both vault and bars. Before the US Classic, she placed first all-around at an elite zone meet. The US Classic was held in southern California. Susan placed sixth all-around! At Nationals, she moved up to fifth place all-around. Susan was then selected to compete at the Reeses Cup in her hometown. She was shown on NBC!

She started her 2002 season at the Magical Classic again. She won everything except for floor. Susan entered the summer season surrounding recent coaching changes. She still managed to place second on vault at Nationals! After Nationals, Susan competed at the Top Gym in Belgium and the deHypotheekshop Gymnastics Top in Netherlands. At the TOP Gym, she placed second on vault.

Her first year as a senior international elite was in 2003. At the WOGA Classic, she finished third all-around. She then competed at the Ameican Classic. At the US Classic, Susan placed ninth all-around. This qualified her for Nationals. At Nationals, she made her first senior national team. She also won vault at the USA vs. Belgium. In early 2004, Susan competed at the Podium meet. She won vault at the American Classic! She qualified to the National Championships by placing seventh all-around at the US Classic. Shortly before Nationals, she competed at the International Friendship meet. She placed fourth all-around. Susan did not have her best meet at Nationals.

Her final year as an elite was in 2005. She competed at the US Classic and US National Championships. She choose to move down to level ten for her senior year in high school. Susan swept the gold medals at Regionals. At the JO National Championships, she finished second on vault and seventh all-around! Susan won the floor title.

As a freshman, she dveloped into a solid all-arounder. She earned first-team All-American honors on floor. She posted a 9.9 on each event. She won bars against Centenary. As a sophomore, she was the NCAA National Vault Champion. She was a first-team All-American on beam, floor, vault and the all-around. She also was an All-SEC selection. She competed all-around in every meet except for two. She won vault at the SEC Championships. She continued to be a star her junior year. She was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She won four all-around titles against Iowa, NC State, Centenary and the Regional Championships. She was a first-team All-SEC after she won the SEC beam title and finished second all-around. She finished second at the NCAA Championships to LSU teammate Ashleigh Clare-Kearney. She earned three All-American honors in the all-around, vault and beam. During her first three seasons, she had twenty nine individual titles.
