Jalynne April Dantzscher was born in Lancaster, California on December 26, 1987. She is the daughter of John and Joyce. Her twin sister, Janelle, was member of the UCLA gymnastics team. Her older sister, Jamie, was a 2000 Olympian and former UCLA Bruin. She has two other sisters, Joanne and Jennifer (coach). Jalynne also has two older brothers. She began gymnastics at the age of six. Jalynne trained at Charter Oak Gliders for several years. In 2002, she switched to SCEGA. Jalynne trained at Champion in Pasadena before heading to UCLA. She was on the TOPs National Team in 1996 and 1997.

In 1997, Jalynne competed as a level seven. She competed at the Golden Boot Invitational and the Gliders Invitational. She moved up to level eight in 1998. Jalynne competed at States. In 1999, she competed as a level nine. She finished fourth all-around at the Gliders Invitational. At the Level 9 State Championships, she finished fifth all-around. She also finished fifth all-around at Regionals. At the Western Championships, Jalynne placed second in the all-around! She won floor. She competed as a junior national elite in 2000. She finished second at the national gymnastics festival. Jalynne qualified for the National Training Squad based on this performance.

She qualified to junior international elite in 2002. She finished seventh all-around at the American Classic. This qualified her for the US National Team. She switched from Gliders to SCEGA after the competition. At Nationals, Jalynne barely missed making the US National Team. She qualified to senior international elite in 2003 but because of an injury, she was unable to compete.

In 2004, Jalynne returned to level ten. She finished first in the all-around, bars, beam and floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, Jaylnne placed second all-around. She won the JO National Championships! She also won the floor title. Jalynne trained at Champion Gymnastics while she finished high school a year early.

Unfortunately, Jalynne only competed for UCLA for one season. She retired at the beginning of her sophomore year because of a nagging back and rib injury.
