Ashley Nicole Jenkins was born in Laguna Hills, California on August 16, 1988. She is the daughter of Christopher and Nedra. She has a younger brother, Justin. Ashley began gymnastics in 1991. In 2001, she trained at Gymmax. She switched to Gliders in 2002. In 2004, Ashley moved to SCATS Huntington Beach.

In 2001, she made JO Nationals as a level ten. After the level ten season, she competed as a junior national elite at the US Challenge. At the National Gymnastics Festival, she finished eighth all-around. In 2003, Ashley qualified for junior international elite. She finished seventh all-around at the US Classic. This qualified her for the US National Championships. At Nationals, she finished tenth all-around. She clinched a spot on the US National Team. Ashley competed at the Massilia Cup in France in the fall. In 2004, she broke her leg which kept her out of the season. In 2005, Ashley qualified for senior international elite. She was not able to compete all events at the US National Championships.

As a freshman, she competed on the balance beam. She was forced to rework her routine after injury her elbow in February. She returned to floor in late February. At Regionals, she subbed on floor. She missed most of the season on bars but came back for the Super Six. She had two top three showings on both bars and beam. As a sophomore in 2008, she missed the first five meets after suffering a broken toe. She competed on beam against Cal in February. She added floor against Arizona. She retired after her sophomore season.
