Jennifer Lauer was born on March 30, 1993. Her twin sister, Amanda, is also a gymnast. Jennifer trained at Siouxland Gymnastics until midway through the 2009 season. She then moved to Premier Omaha. Jennifer will graduate from high school in 2011.

In 2005, she competed level eight. She finished third on bars at Regionals. She moved up to level nine in 2006. She finished fourth on vault and beam at Regionals. She qualified to Regionals where she placed 38th all-around. In 2007, Jennifer won the all-around and beam titles at Regionals. At Westerns, she finished second on beam and eleventh all-around. Jennifer began competing level ten in 2008. She finished second on floor at the Harley Davidson meet. At Regionals, she placed sixth all-around. Jennifer ended her season at JO Nationals. In 2009, she finished fourth all-around at the Chow's Rising Stars Invitational. At the IGI Chicago Style, she placed third all-around and first on floor. She finished third all-around at the Harley Davidson meet. At Regionals, she placed first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around. Jennifer ended her season at JO Nationals, placing 27th all-around.

Jennifer continued competing level ten in 2010. She finished first on vault, bars and the all-around at the New Year Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she placed third all-around and first on bars. Jennifer won bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on bars and fourth all-around. Jennifer placed fifth on bars and 21st all-around at JO Nationals. In 2011, she finished first on vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Nadia Comaneci Invitational. She won beam at the Derby Classic. At Regionals, she finished first on vault and bars. Jennifer finished 29th all-around at JO Nationals.
