Beate Ruthie Jones was born on December 25, 1988. She is the daughter of Curtis and Barbara. She trained at Sunburst Gymnastics until 2001. She then switched to Rebound Gymnastics. Beate moved to Will-Moor for her final three seasons. She is now at Arizona State University.

In 2001, Beate competed as a level nine. She won bars and floor at States. By 2004, she was competing as a level ten. Beate finished first on vault at Regionals in 2005. She qualified to the JO National Championships. At JO Nationals, Beate finished third on vault and fifteenth all-around. She did not comepte all-around at Regionals in 2006. In 2007, she finished second all-around and first on vault at Regionals. Beate placed sixth all-around at JO Nationals.

As a freshman at Arizona State, she competed in the all-around eight times. She was one of the team's top vaulters and floor-workers. She won vault three times. In 2009, she competed in the all-around eleven times. She earned Pac-10 First-Team honors on floor. She also earned Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week in the beginning of March.
