Cassandra Ann Jusino was born in Weisbaden, West Germany on July 17, 1985. Her parents, Jim and Andrea Jusino, were stationed in the army in West Germany. She has a younger brother, Joshua. Cassandra graduated from Sam Barlow High School in 2003. She trained at Naydenov Gymnastics until 2001. She then switched to Multnomah Athletic Club.
In 1992, Cassandra made the National TOPs Team. In 1999, she won bars at the JO National Championships. She then qualified to junior international elite. She competed at the US National Championships. Cassandra competed as a junior international elite in 2000. She moved down to level ten in 2002. She won vault at the JO National Championships. In 2003, she finished third on vault and second on floor at JO Nationals. She finished eighth all-around. As a freshman at Arizona State, she competed in the all-around at NCAA Nationals. She won vault in her first collegiate competition.
As a sophomore at Arizona State, Cassandra competed in every meet in the all-around. She won several titles. In 2006, she competed in the all-around seven times, the floor eleven times, bars thirteen times, vault twelve times and beam eight times. She led the team on floor at the NCAA Championships. She ended her career by competing in the all-around.
