Josephine Whitney was born on February 13, 1998. She trains at National Elite Gymnastics in Austin, Texas.
In 2006, Josephine competed level five in the spring. She won beam and floor at the National Judges Cup. She competed level six in the fall. At the State Championships, she finished first on floor. She placed fourth all-around. Josephine competed level seven in 2007. She competed at the WOGA Classic. In 2008, Josephine competed level eight. She placed fourth on beam at the Rose City Classic. She competed at the State Championships. In 2009, Josephine won beam at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished second all-around at the Hardrock Invitational. At the Alamo Classic, Josephine won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. She placed second on bars and beam at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second on beam and fourth on bars.
Josephine began competing level nine in 2010. She placed third on beam at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. At the State Championships, she competed on bars and beam online. She finished third on beam at Regionals. In 2011, Josephine finished first on beam and second all-around at the Tiger Classic. At the Gymnastics in the Wine Country meet, she placed second all-around.
