Alexandra (Lexi) Katz was born on January 31, 1996 in northern New Jersey. She began gymnastics at the age of two, and has been training with the former Olympic champion Natalia Shaposhnikova and world champion Pavel Sout at Gymnastika since 2002. She will graduate from high school in 2014.
After winning the New Jersey Level 6 State Championships with a record-breaking AA score of 38.00, as well as breaking the beam record with a 9.8, Lexi went on to place second all-around at the Level 7 State Championships with a 37.85 in 2008. She qualified to Level 8 Regionals in 2009, where her yurchenko placed tenth in the region. Lexi started the following season at level eight, but the scoring changed and rather than be penalized for her double back off bars, she moved ahead to level nine mid-season. Despite not being quite ready, she managed to qualify for the Level 9 State Championships. Unfortunately, she was subsequently sidelined due to a knee injury. Alexandra is currently on her way to recovering and is currently training for level ten!
