Kaleigh Dickson was born on August 15, 1991. She trained at Victory Gymnastics. Kaleigh moved to LaFleur's Tampa after the 2006 season. She graduated from high school in 2009.

In 2006, Kaleigh competed level nine. She finished eleventh all-around at Regionals. She finished 23rd all-around at Easterns. Kaleigh moved up to level ten in 2007. She finished first on floor at the Lightning City Classic. She won bars and the all-around at the Buckeye Classic. At JO Nationals, Kaleigh finished 17th all-around. She placed tenth on bars. In 2008, Kaleigh finished second all-around at the Tampa Bay Classic. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Harley Davidson meet. At the State Championships, she won vault and beam. Kaleigh finished first all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 13th all-around.

Kaleigh had a strong 2010 season. She placed first on bars at the National Judges Cup. She placed first on vault and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Daytona Beach Open, Kaleigh won vault, bars and the all-around. She placed first on vault and floor at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed second all-around. Kaleigh won vault at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals. Kaleigh redshirted the 2010 season after suffering a knee injury.

As a redshirt freshman in 2011, Kaleigh earned second-team All-American honors at the NCAA Championships in the all-around. She competed in the all-around in every meet for LSU except for the first competition.
