Kaylee Dowell was born on January 4, 1996. She trains with Shooting Stars at Hickory Gymnastics in North Carolina. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In the fall of 2003, Kaylee competed level four. She finished first on beam and floor at the Turkey Tumble meet. She placed second all-around at the Reach for the Stars meet. At the Salem Fall Classic, she won floor and the all-around. Kaylee won floor and the all-around at the State Championships. Kaylee moved up to level five in the fall of 2004. She finished first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Harvest Hoedown meet. At the Biltmore Classic, she won all five gold medals. Kaylee placed second all-around at the State Championships. She competed level six in the spring of 2005. She finished first on beam and the all-around at the Salem Invitational.

Kaylee began competing level seven in 2006. She finished first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Sweetheart Invite. She won all five gold medals at the Judges Cup. At the State Championships, Kaylee won vault, floor and the all-around. Kaylee did not compete in 2007. In 2008, she finished first all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. She won bars, beam, and the all-around at the State Championships. Kaylee competed level eight in 2009. She finished first on bars at the Flip Fest Invitational. She also won bars at the Hilton Head Island Invitational. At the Sweetheart Invite, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. Kaylee won bars, beam and the all-around at the Tiger Paw Classic. She placed first on beam at the Charleston Cup. Kaylee finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. She won bars and the all-around at Regionals.

In 2010, Kaylee moved up to level nine. She won floor at the Flip Fest Invitational. She placed third all-around at the Tiger Paw Classic. At the Greensboro Gymnastics Invitational, she won bars. She won floor at the Excalibur Cup. Kaylee placed in the top ten at the State Championships. She won vault and the all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she placed fourth on beam and the all-around. In 2011, Kaylee finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the Flip Fest Invitational. She won vault and the all-around at the Excalibur Cup. At the Charleston Cup, Kaylee finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she placed first on vault, bars and the all-around. She placed first on bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first all-around. Kaylee placed fifth on bars and beam at Easterns. She placed second on floor. She won the all-around title!
