Lauren Kent was born on October 3, 1998. She trains at Sonshine Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2017.

In 2006, Lauren competed level four. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the KPAC Cup. She moved to level five. At the State Championships, she placed second on bars and fourth all-around. Lauren competed level seven in 2008. She finished fourth on vault and floor at the State Championships. In 2009, she competed level eight. She placed second on floor at the NRG Challenge. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. Lauren won bars and the all-around at the Sweetheart meet. At the State Championships, she won beam and placed fourth all-around. She ended her season at Regionals, winning vault, beam and the all-around.

Lauren moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished third all-around at the Charleston Cup. At the State Championships, she placed sixth all-around. At Regionals, she won vault and the all-around. At Easterns, she placed third all-around. She also placed fourth on beam and sixth on bars. She moved up to level ten in 2011. She finished third on vault at the Brick City Winterfest. At the Sweetheart Invite, she won beam. Lauren won floor at the Courtney Kupets Pink Pinvitational. At the State Championships, she finished third on beam. Lauren finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals. At the JO National Invitational Tournament, she finished third on floor and tenth all-around.
