Claire Kern was born on April 28, 1997. She trains at Southeastern Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2005, she competed level five. She finished third all-around at the Harvest Hoe Down. At the State Championships, Claire placed tenth all-around. She moved up to level six in 2006. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. She won vault. In 2007, Claire won vault and bars at the Lady Luck Invitational as a level six. She moved up to level seven for the 2008 season. Claire won vault and the all-around at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She finished second on bars at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At the State Championships, Claire won vault, bars and the all-around.
Claire competed level eight in 2009. She won vault and the all-around at the Flip Fest Invitational. She won bars and floor at the Hilton Head Island Invitational. Claire won vault at the WOGA Classic and Charleston Cup. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she placed first on vault, beam and the all-around. Claire won vault, bars and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third all-around. In 2010, Claire won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational as a level nine. She won bars at the Sweetheart meet. At the State Championships, she finished first on bars and fourth all-around. Claire won bars and the all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she finished second all-around. She placed in the top six on every event.
Claire moved up to level 10 for the 2010-2011 season. At the Twin City Classic, she placed second on vault, balance beam and in the all-around. She finished second on vault, uneven bars, balance beam and in the all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. At the Sweetheart Invitational, she placed third in the all-around, first on vault and second on floor exercise. Claire placed fourth in the all-around at both Charleston Cup and National Gymnastics Challenge. At the Level 10 State Championships, she finished fourth in the all-around and first on uneven bars. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals after placing sixth in the all-around, third on uneven bars and seventh on floor exercise at the Level 10 Regionals. At the JO Nationals, she finished 23rd overall.
