Kayla Gray was born on November 5, 1993. She trains at Niagra Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2011.

In 2005, Kayla competed level nine. She placed second all-around at the State Championships. She won vault. At Regionals, she placed sixth all-around. Kayla finished 12th all-around at Easterns. She placed seventh on vault. In 2007, Kayla competed level ten. She won floor at the Graffiti Invitational. At the Rochester Classic, she won beam. Kayla placed fifth on bars at State. At Regionals, she placed eighth all-around.

She continued competing level ten in 2008. She won beam at the Rochester Classic. She did not compete on bars at the State Championships. She finished second on beam. At Regionals, she placed second on vault, third on floor and sixth all-around. Kayla won beam at JO Nationals. In the summer, she placed third on vault and floor at the Empire State Games. Kayla did not compete the full 2009 season because of injury. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the LeatherStocking Invite. She won her only event, bars, at the Rochester Classic. She continued having strong results in 2010. She won beam and floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, Kayla won beam and floor. She placed second all-around. She finished second on beam and 21st all-around at JO Nationals.
