Mandy Klun was born on January 23, 1996. She trained at Gymkhana until 2003. Since then she has trained at Illinois Gymnastics Institute (IGI).

In 2003, Mandy competed level five. She finished third on floor at States. She moved up to level six in 2004 winning bars, beam and the all-around at the North Judges Cup. In 2005, Mandy competed level seven. She qualified for States. She continued competing level seven in 2006. She placed second all-around at the Cupid's Twist meet. In 2007, she moved up to level eight. She finished fourth all-around at the Flips USA Invitational. At Regionals, she placed 11th out of 51.

Mandy moved up to level nine in 2008. She placed third on bars, first on floor and second all-around at the Bravo Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she finished second on bars and beam. She won floor and the all-around. Mandy finished second all-around at the Gasparilla Classic. At States, she placed third all-around. She ended her season with a top twenty finish at Easterns.

Mandy moved up to level ten in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Flip'r meet. At the Arena Classic, she finished second all-around. Mandy won a bronze medal on vault at States. At Regionals, she finished first on vault and fourth all-around. She qualified for her first JO Nationals where she placed tenth all-around! In the fall Mandy participated in a training camp with several other highly ranked JO athletes. She had a strong 2010 season. In January, Mandy won the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She then won floor at the King Arthur Invitational. She won bars and finished third all-around at the competitive Pikes Peak Cup. At the Arena Classic, she finished second all-around with a career high of 38.300. Mandy won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault and bars. She finished second all-around.
