Savannah Kooyman was born on August 22, 1998. She began gymnastics in a mommy and me class at the age of sixteen months. She trained at Tumbleweeds before moving to Gymnastics Nevada in 2007. She began training at Byers Sacramento in the summer of 2008. She will graduate from high school in 2017.
In the fall of 2006, Savannah competed level five. She finished third all-around at the Monster Mash meet. She continued competing level five in the spring of 2007. She finished third all-around at the Golden State Classic. She competed at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in 2008. She placed third on bars at the Flips USA Invitational. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Spring Fest. Savannah competed level seven in 2009. She finished second on floor at the Tachi Palace Invitational. She placed first on floor at the Long Beach Open. At the Byers Invitational, she placed second on floor. She finished third all-around at the State Championships.
Savannah moved up to level eight in 2010. She finished second all-around at the Red Heart 10.0 Invitational. She placed first on bars, floor and the all-around at the Maryland Classic. She won bars at the Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, she placed third on floor. In 2011, Savannah won bars at the Seattle Open as a level nine. She won vault and bars at the Byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed second on vault, first on floor and fourth all-around. Savannah finished second all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed third on floor and seventh all-around.
