Kayla Kovacs was born on October 1, 1996. She began gymnastics at the age of three at Champion Gymnastics Academy, but competed for two years with Oni's Gymnastics in 2005 and 2006. She will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2006, Kayla competed level five in the spring. She won beam at the Svetlana Invitational. She placed first on bars and second all-around at the Vegas Vacation meet. She competed level six in the fall. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. Kayla competed level seven in 2008. She moved up to level eight in 2009. She finished fourth all-around at the Great West Gym Fest. She placed second on floor at the Rose City Classic. At Regionals, she placed second on bars.
Kayla moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished first on beam and second all-around at the Svetlana Invitational. She won bars at the AOGC Invitational. At the Houston National Invitational, she placed first on bars. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. At Regionals, Kayla placed third on bars and eighth all-around. In 2011, Kayla finished second all-around at the Ricky Deci Invitational. She placed third all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Houston National Invitational, she placed first on bars and second all-around. She won floor at the Alamo Classic. At the State Championships, she finished second all-around. Kayla placed third on bars at Regionals. She placed eighth on beam at Westerns.
