Kaitlin Elizabeth White was born to Monte and Tammy DeVinny in McKinney, Texas on October 6, 1986. She began gymnastics in 1993 at the age of seven. She trained at WOGA for most of her elite career. She competed level five at the age of seven. She moved up to six as an eight year old. Kaitlin competed level eight as a ten year old and level nine at the age of eleven. She was an elite by twelve years old.
She went junior international elite in 1999. At the Go For It Classic, Kaitlin finished third all-around. She finished first on vault and on floor. Her next meet was the US Classic. She finished seventh all-around! Kaitlin also won vault. This was her first elite meet. She qualified for the US National Championships. At Nationals, Kaitlin placed 11th all-around. This qualified her for the US National Team. She was chosen to compete at the Top Gym International. At that meet, she won the silver on floor. Kaitlin continued competing as a junior elite in 2000. She finished second all-around at the Plano Classic. She won the Pikes Peak Cup! At the American Classic, Kaitlin finished first on vault and beam. She was fourth in the all-around! Unfortunately, an injury kept her out the rest of the season.
2001 was a great year for Kaitlin! She finished first all-around at the WOGA Classic. She also won vault and floor. In July, she competed at the US Classic. Kaitlin finished second all-around! At Nationals, she finished fourth all-around and second on vault and floor. Her performance gave her an invitation for the Goodwill Games. They were held in Australia. She competed on vault and in the all-around. She competed senior international elite in 2002. At the WOGA Classic, she won floor and finished second all-around. At the Pikes Peak Cup, Kaitlin was second all-around as well. At the National Podium Meet, she finished in the top ten all-around! Kaitlin was chosen for the Gymnix International. She finished with two silvers, one in the all-around and one on bars. Kaitlin also won beam. Before returning home, she finished third on vault and floor at the Jurassic Classic. Her season ended at the American Classic where she took home second in the all-around. Kaitlin was second on floor and third on vault as well. She could not finish the season because of injuries.
Her competition return came in 2003. She competed at the WOGA Classic. Following the WOGA Classic, Kaitlin competed at the Parkette Invite. She also finished fourth on vault at the Podium Meet. At the US Classic, Kaitlin placed 11th all-around. This qualified her for the US National Championships. At this meet, Kaitlin ended her season. She did not compete in 2004 because of injuries.
In the fall of 2004, she began school at the University of Alabama. As a freshman, she competed on vault, bars and floor. During her sophomore season, she competed on bars and vault. She set her career high on bars. During her junior season, she continued to compete on vault, bars and floor. She set career highs on floor and vault. She was a Scholastic All-American. She was also on the Dean's List and President's List. During her senior season, she served as the team co-captain. She was an Academic All-SEC Team Member and a Scholastic All-American.
