Chrissy Lamun was born in Reno, Nevada on December 20, 1983. She is the daughter of Sandra and Robert. She has an older brother, Erick, who was a cheerleader at the University of Nevada. She graduated from McQueen High School. She trained at Flips USA Gymnastics under Neil and Patty Jo Resnick.
In 1999, Chrissy competed as a level nine. She finished fifth all-around at Westerns. Chrissy also won bars. She was competing as a level ten in 2000. She finished first all-around at States. She won the JO National title on beam. In 2001, Chrissy finished third all-around and first on floor at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed fourth on floor and eighth all-around. She won another Level 10 Nevada State Title in 2002. She then finished second on floor at JO Nationals.
As a freshman at Oregon State, Chrissy found immediate success. She won the Pac-10 Championships on floor. She scored a perfect ten. Chrissy was only the third Beaver to record a perfect score on floor. She was the first Oregon State gymnast to receive a ten as a freshman and only the second to win a Conference title as a freshman. She was named to the All-Pac-10 team on floor. Chrissy also competed on bars and beam. She was named OSU's Female Newcomer of the Year for all sports and co-Newcomer of the Year for gymnastics. She was a NACGC/W Scholastic All-American.
2004 was her sophomore season. Chrissy competed on bars, beam and floor in all twelve meets. She competed in the all-around in nine meets. She scored better than a 39 seven times. Chrissy was named an NACGC/W Scholastic All-American. She was second team coSida Academic All-Distric. Chrissy was also named to the second team Pac-10 All-Academic Team. To top this off, she was a Joy Selig Award recipient. As a junior, she competed on bars, beam and floor. She was NACGC/W Scholastic All-American for the third year.
As a senior, she competed on bars, beam and floor. Chrissy was an all-arounder in six meets. She was selected as a 2005-06 Pac-10 Medal Winner. Chirssy was a 2006 Robert Byers Spirit Award winner. She also earned second-team All-American honors on beam and Pac-10 All-Academic First Team recognition.
