Randi K. Lau was born on March 1, 1994, in Honolulu, Hawaii and is the oldest of three children to Robert and Susan. When Randi was 6 years old, she began gymnastics at Hawaii Academy after attending a birthday party at a local gym. Randi trained most of her gymnastics career at Hawaiian Island Twisters in Honolulu, Hawaii. She trained at WOGA in 2007. Randi returned to Hawaii and began training at What's Up Gymnastics. She trained at Kokokahi Gymnastics in 2011.

Randi competed as a level 4 in 2000 and placed third all-around at Judge's Invitational. In 2002, Randi was part of the JumpStart National Team for trampoline and tumbling. By 2003, she was competing as a level eight for HITS. She moved up to level nine during the same season. She placed 3rd all-around at Ku'uipo Classic. She also won a bronze medal on vault and a silver medal on balance beam. She then competed at Maui Invitational where she placed 4th all-around. In 2004 Randi was one of a handful of level 10 gymnasts, her age, to compete at the Junior Olympic National Championships, which placed Randi just below the elite caliber gymnasts. Randi ended up placing 25th in the all around.

At the beginning of 2005 Randi competed at the Gymnastics in Paradise meet and Maui Invite placing 2nd and 1st respectively. She also took home the vault title at both meets and the bars title at the Gymnastics in Paradise meet. Shortly after these meets Randi competed at that the GAGE Invite, where she was injured but did not want to scratch because she wanted to stay with her teammates. In March Randi competed at the Hawaii level 10 State Championships, where she placed 1st on every event and in the all around, which qualified her to the Region 2 Championships in April. At the Region 2 level 10 Championships Randi again placed 1st on every event and in the all around, advancing her to the JO National Championships in May.

At the JO National Championships Randi placed 37th in the all around. In June Randi competed at the US Classic, a Nationals qualifier, where she placed 19th in the all around, qualifying her to US National Championships in Indianapolis, IN. At Nationals a few bobbles and a fall kept her from making the national team. But nationals were still Randi's favorite competition so far, for the experience that she gained and the good times had.

Randi was struggling with an injury in 2006. She petitioned to US National Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota. Randi finished 21st all-around and 16th on balance beam. At end of the year, Randi has decided to switch the gyms, all the way to Plano, Texas to train at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy under Valeri Liukin and Natalya Marakova.

In 2007, Randi began her season at the Metroplex Challenge. She did really well, winning the all-around title and on vault. She then competed at the WOGA Classic, where she placed fourth in the all-around, vault and floor exercise. A few weeks later, she traveled to Virginia Beach, VA for the Excalibur Cup. There, she finished seventh in the all-around and first on floor exercise with a 9.5. She then traveled to West in California for the Byers Invitational. She finished second in the all-around and first on balance beam. Randi moved back to Hawaii after the US Classic to begin training at What's up Gymnastics.

2008 is Randi's most successful year so far. Moving back to Hawaii proved that it was the right decision to do. Randi began the 2008 season at Gymnastics in Paradise. She easily won the all-around title. She then traveled to Texas for the elite qualifier. She easily re-qualified to junior international elite with a 57.15. At the 2008 US Nationals in Boston, MA, Randi did extremely well on both days and finished eighth in the all-around and fifth on balance beam. This qualified Randi to the Junior US National Team! She did not compete in 2009 and 2010 because of injuries. Randi placed third in the all-around and first on balance beam at the Level 10 Regionals in 2011. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Long Beach, California. She concluded her 2011 season at the JO Nationals.
