Margaret Laughlin was born on January 4, 1994. She trained at Desert Devils through the 2003 season. She then moved to Carter's Gymnastics Acadmey. She returned to Desert Devils in the fall of 2011. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2003, Margaret competed level six. She placed in the top ten at the Desert Devils Classic and Shamrock Invite. She moved up to level seven in 2004. She placed in the top ten at the Sweetheart Invitational. Margaret placed tenth at the State Championships. She continued competing level seven in 2005. She won bars at the Hard Rock Invite. She finished third on bars at the Surf City Classic and second on bars at the California Classic. Margaret won bars at the State Championships. She placed second on floor and third all-around. She moved up to level eight for the 2006 season. Margaret finished fifth at the Hard Rock Invitational. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the California Classic. She placed second at the State Championships. She finished tenth at Regionals.

Margaret skipped level nine and began competing level ten in 2007. She placed second on floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished 12th all-around. Margaret won floor at the Winter Sun Invitational in 2008. She won beam at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed tenth all-around. In 2009, Margaret won floor and placed second all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She finished second at the California Classic. She won floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on floor and eighth all-around.

In 2010, she won floor and the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She won five gold medals at the Mardi Gras Challenge. She won beam at the Long Beach Open. At the Chinese New Year Celebration, she won bars, floor and the all-around. Margaret won beam and placed second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished sixth all-around. She placed seventh on floor at JO Nationals. In 2011, Margaret finished first on bars at the National Judges cup. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Chinese New Year meet. She finished third on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on bars and third all-around. Margaret finished seventh on vault and bars at JO Nationals.
