Erica Leigh Lebegern was born on December 12, 1987. She goes by Ricki. She is the daughter of William and Jamie. She trained at Capital Gymnastics training center with Tatiana Perskaia and Victor Vectrov during her club career.

In 2002, Ricki competed as a level ten. She finished sixth all-around at Regionals. At the JO National Championships, she finished tenth all-around and second on beam. Ricki continued competing as a level ten in 2003. She won the Virginia All-Around State Title. She also won bars. At Regionals, she finished second all-around. Ricki also finished second on vault and bars. At the JO National Championships, she placed tenth all-around again. After the level ten season, she competed at the US Challenge as a senior national elite. Ricki finished third overall. She had an injury in the 2004 season.

Ricki returned to level ten in 2005. She finished second all-around at the State Championships. Ricki won bars and floor. At Regionals, she placed second all-around. She won the following three events: vault, bars and beam. At the JO National Championships, she finished fourth all-around! She was also third on vault. In 2006, Ricki swept the gold medals at the Virginia State Championships. At Regionals, she won every event except for floor, where she finished second. At the JO National Championships, Ricki placed second all-around. She was also second on beam and third on floor.

As a freshman at Alabama in 2007, she was the SEC Balance Beam Champion. She led Alabama in nine events, winning six individual titles. She won the all-around and beam at Arkansas. Ricki won vault against Oklahoma and Auburn. She earned Dean's List honors for both semesters. She was a Scholastic All-American and on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. During her sophomore season, she won vault and beam at SEC Championships to earn All-SEC honors. She earned four individual titles. Ricki was on Dean's List for the spring semester. She was also on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a Scholastic All-American.

Ricki served as team co-captain during her junior season. She was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She earned second team All-SEC honors in the all-around. She was a first-team All-American on beam. She earned second-team honors on floor and in the all-around. She competed in event finals on balance beam.
