Shannon Andrea LeBlanc was born in Maryland on June 14, 1993. She is the daughter of Darlene and Kevin LeBlanc. Lauren, her sister was also a level 10 gymnast. She was the alternate for the Level 10 Nationals in 2005. Shannon also has a brother named A.J., 24 years old, and a sister-in-law, named Amanda. Shannon maintains a 4.5 GPA and is a freshman at River Ridge High School. She will graduate in 2011. After several moves across the country, Shannon moved to Suncoast Gymnastics Academy in Port Richey, Florida under Coach Arnold Gwinn.
Shannon began gymnastics in 1999 as a Level 4 in Maryland at Carroll Gymnastics Training Center in Westminster. She quickly moved to Level 6 when the family moved to Florida in 2001. After searching for a gym for a full season, Shannon chose Suncoast Gymnastics and moved to Level 7 Under Coach Arnold Gwinn. Due to her dad's work, the family again moved to California in 2003. Shannon changed gyms a few times in 2003 and in 2004; Shannon began training at Gymnastics Team USA under Coach Dave Gerlach. She qualified for Level 8 States and Regionals. Gymnastics Team USA closed down; Shannon began training in 2005 at National Team USA under Coach Debra Hutchinson. She qualified to Level 8 Regionals again in 2005.
At the end of the season in 2005, due to her dad's work, Shannon was able to return to Florida and her coach, Arnold Gwinn, at Suncoast Gymnastics Academy. In 2006, she qualified to Level 9 States and Regionals as well as Level 9 Nationals. In 2007, Shannon obtained first place at States with an AA score of 36.775. She also won gold medals on vault, bars and floor. She finished fourth on beam. She received 3rd Place at Regionals with an AA Score of 37.00 and 7th Place at Nationals with Beam Score of 9.4 and Floor Score of 9.425 with an AA Score of 36.975.
In 2008, Shannon's first year on Level 10, she placed 10th at States with an AA Score of 36.075. At Regionals she finished 7th all-around, qualifying for JO Nationals. Shannon best Level 10 Scores in 2008 were Vault - 9.475, Bars - 8.925, Beam - 9.025 and Floor - 9.25. She continued to improve in 2009. She finished second on vault and beam at the Gasparilla Classic. At the Charleston Cup, she finished fourth on beam. She won vault at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She finished third all-around. At the State Championships, she finished tenth all-around. She placed fourteenth all-around at Regionals. In the fall, Shannon committed to Denver. Shannon did not compete in 2010. In 2011, she placed second on vault at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She finished third on floor at the Pikes Peak Cup. Shannon was briefly on the University of Denver team but had to retire due to injuries.
