Nicolette Lew was born on March 21, 1991. She trained at Scats Diamond Elite through the 2007 season. She followed her coaches to Precision in the summer of 2007. She graduated from high school in 2009.

In the fall of 2001, Nicolette competed level six. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She competed level seven in 2003. She placed third on vault at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2004. She won beam and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. She placed third all-around at the State Championships. She placed first on vault and bars at Regionals. She finished second all-around. Nicolette moved up to level nine in 2005. She finished second all-around at the Friendship Challenge. At the State Championships, she won beam and the all-around. She won bars and the all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed second on beam and floor. She finished fourth all-around.

Nicolette began competing level ten in 2006. She finished first on beam at the San Diego Classic. She won bars and placed second all-around at the Long Beach Open. She finished third on bars at the State Championships. She competed on two events at Regionals. In 2007, Nicolette finished second on beam at the San Diego Classic. She won floor and the all-around at the Long Beach Open. At the California Classic, she won floor. She won beam at the Top Flight Invite. At the State Championships, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She finished fourth all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 19th all-around. She placed eight on beam. In 2008, Nicolette won bars and floor at the IGHOF Invitational. She finished first on bars, beam and the all-around at the American Kids Cup. At the State Championships, she won bars, beam and the all-around. She placed second on beam at Regionals. She placed sixth on vault at JO Nationals.

As a freshman at Cal in 2010, Nicolette competed in every meet. She competed on vault, bars and beam throughout the season. In 2011, Nicolette continued competing on vault, bars and beam. She won beam at Arizona State.
