Carissa Lim was born on November 15, 1994. She trained at All Olympia Gymnastics Center through the 2008 season. She then moved to Gym-Max. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2004, Carissa competed level five. She finished in the top ten at the Spiral Invitational. She moved up to level six in 2005. She finished third all-around at the 1st Prelim. She won beam at the Judges Cup. At the 3rd Prelim, she finished fourth all-around. Carissa competed level seven in 2006. She placed first on beam and floor at the Go For It Classic. At the AOGC Invitational, she placed second all-around. Carissa won floor and the all-around at the State Championships.

Carissa moved up to level eight in 2007. She won vault and floor at the AOGC invitational. She won bars at the Golden State Friendship Challenge. At the Byers Invitational, she won floor. Carissa finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault, floor and the all-around. Carissa competed level nine in 2008. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished tenth all-around. Carissa competed at Westerns.

She began competing level ten in 2009. She finished in the top ten at the Long Beach Open. In 2010, she finished fourth all-around at the San Diego Classic. Carissa finished in the top ten all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals.
