Lexi Montgomery was born on February 13, 1998. She trained at Texas Dreams in Coppell, Texas, through the 2009 season. She then moved to Metroplex.
In 2005, Lexi competed level five. She finished second on vault at the District Championships. She finished eighth out of 72 in the all-around. She moved up to level six in 2006. She placed 12th all-around at States. In 2007, Lexi made the National TOPs "B" Team. She competed level seven in 2008. At the District Qualifier, she won floor and the all-around. Lexi finished third all-around at both the Texas Prime Meet and Parkette Invitational. She won bars at the latter. At the Rose City Classic, Lexi finished first on bars. She made the National TOPs Team in the fall.
Lexi moved up to level eight in 2009. She won floor at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. At the Texas Prime Meet, she finished second in the all-around, bars and floor. At the WOGA Classic, she won the all-around! Lexi placed second all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. At the Excalibur Cup, she won the all-around and balance beam. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At the State Championships, she placed second all-around. Lexi qualified to hopes elite at the Texas Dreams Qualifier. Unfortunately, an injury kept her out of the US Challenge. She came back in the fall to make the National TOPs "B" Team.
