Courtney Loper was born on March 16, 1998. She began participating in gymnastics when she was three. She began gymnastics at Desert Lights Gymnastics. She continued training there until the summer of 2009. Courtney now trains at Chow's Gymnastics.

In the fall of 2005, Courtney earned National TOPs Gold status. Courtney began competing in the spring of 2006 as a level five. Her first meet was the Winter Sun Invitational. She competed on uneven bars, balance beam and floor. Her next meet was the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. She finished fourth on vault and beam. She then competed at the Hard Rock Invitational. She finished fourth all-around at the Flagstaff Winter Classic. She continued competing level five in the fall season with greatly improved scores. At the School Days Invitational, she swept the gold medals. At the PGA Invitational, she won vault, beam and the all-around. In October, she won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Halloween Invitational. She won bars and the all-around at the Fall Round Up. At the State Championships, she finished fourth on vault and in the all-around. She tied for third on floor. She was also a TOPs National Diamond Team Member in 2006.

She moved up to level six in 2007. At the Winter Sun Invitational, she won vault and place second on floor. She did not compete on bars. At the Fiesta Bowl Invitational, she won vault and the all-around. She placed second on bars and floor. She won vault at the Shamrock Invitational. She won vault and the all-around at the Tucson Invitational. At the Spring State Championships, she won beam. She placed third all-around.

She continued competing level six in the fall. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the School Days Invitational. She won vault and floor at the PGA Invitational. Courtney finished first on floor and the all-around at the Rock-n-Roll Classic. at the Halloween meet, she won beam, floor and the all-around. At States, she won vault. She placed second on floor and in the all-around. During the competition season, she qualified to the National TOPs "B" Team.

Two months later she began competing level seven in 2008. She finished third all-around at the Winter Sun Invitational. She won vault. She won vault and placed third all-around again at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the Hard Rock Invitational, she won vault. She finished second on bars, beam, floor and the all-around. At the Cactus Cup, she won vault and placed second on floor. She won vault and placed third all-around at the Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around! In the fall, she earned a spot on the National TOPs Team.

Courtney began competing level eight in 2009. She won vault and placed second on floor at the Winter Sun Invitational. She finished third all-around. At the Fiesta Bowl Invitational, she won vault. She placed third on bars. She won vault at the Hard Rock Invitational. Courtney won vault, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She finished second on beam. At Regionals, she finished in the upper half of the field. She qualified to hopes later that year.

In 2010, Courtney began competing level nine. She won vault and beam at the Chow's Rising Stars Challenge. Courtney won the all-around at the Premier Invite. She next competed at the Daytona Beach Open, where she placed fourth. She won bronze medals on vault and floor. At the State Championships, she finished first on vault. She placed second all-around. At Regionals, she won vault. Courtney placed third all-around. She ended her level nine season at Westerns, winning a silver medal on floor. She also placed sixth on vault.
