Huneth Lor was born on October 5, 1987. She graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in 2005. She trained at Las Vegas Flyers until 2001. She then moved to Illinois to train at Naperville Gymnastics. After her coach moved back to China, she moved to Aerials for her senior year.

In 2001, she competed as a level ten. Huneth placed first on beam and in the all-around at Regionals. She finished eleventh all-around at JO Nationals. In 2002, she competed at her second JO National Championships. In 2003, Huneth finished fifth all-around at JO Nationals. She won the state balance beam title in 2004. She finished second all-around. Huneth then won Regionals. She placed seventh all-around at JO Nationals. She did this again in 2005.

As a freshman at the University of Michigan, Huneth competed on floor and beam. As a sophomore, she was All-Big Ten second team. She placed second in the all-around at the Big Ten Championships. Huneth won her first collegiate beam title again Maryland. She came through in a clutch in her first collegiate attempt on vault to help Michigan win against West Virginia. In 2008, she competed on beam throughout the season. She won beam and floor titles at the State of Michigan Classic. She competed vault against Penn State. Fhe finished third on floor against a tri-meet with Arkansas and West Virginia.

During her senior season, she mainly competed on vault, beam and floor. She also competed in the all-around at some meets. Huneth finished second in the all-around and on beam against NCSU and Kent State.
