Michelle Luchini was born on July 7, 1989. She is the daughter of Michael and Jeanne Luchini. She has one sister, Chelsie Luchini. Michelle graduated from Mount Notre Dame High School in 2007. She trained at Queen City Gymnastics during her club career.

In 2003, Michelle competed as a level seven. She won the Ohio State all-around, bars, beam and floor titles. She moved up to level eight in 2004. At the Ohio State Championships, Michelle placed first on beam. She won two silver medals; one on floor and one on vault. She finished third all-around. At Regionals, Michelle won the all-around title! She finished first on bars.

Michelle moved up to level nine in 2005. She finished first on bars and in the all-around at States! She finished seocnd on beam and vault. At Regionals, Michelle finished second all-around. She won the Level 9 Eastern Championships! In 2006, she began competing as a level ten. She qualified to Regionals in 2006 and 2007. She began attending Bowling Green in the fall of 2008.
