Brittany Lauren Magee was born to J.D. and Dalena on June 9, 1988. She lived in Arlington, Texas, until college. Brittany trained at Texas Dreams Gymnastics under Kim Zmeskal and Chris Burdette. She began gymnastics in 1992. Brittany has one sister, Kara, and a brother named Joe.

In 2003, Brittany competed as a level ten. She finished second all-around. At the JO National Championships, she won the all-around title! She was also third on beam. In 2004, she qualified to senior international elite. Brittany competed at the American Classic in March. In May, she traveled to New York for the US Classic. She finished eleventh all-around! This qualified her for the US National Championships. Brittany did well in a highly competitive field.

Brittany went down south to Houston, Texas, in early 2005. She competed at the USA v. Japan meet. Brittany won the all-around, vault and beam titles! Based on this performance, she was added to the US National Team. Brittany then went to New York for the North American Tri-Meet. She finished second on bars and third on beam. At the US Classic in July, she finished 13th all-around! Brittany did not compete at Nationals because of an injury.

That fall, she began college at the University of Alabama. Brittany competed on vault, beam, and floor throughout the season. She was first on floor at the SEC Championships. At the Western Regional, she was first on vault and floor. Brittany was a second-team All-American on floor. She was also a Scholastic All-American. As a sophomore, she was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a Scholastic All-American. She won beam against UCLA, Auburn and Arkansas. She earned a spot on the President's List. She competed on vault and beam at almost every meet. She also competed on floor once. She exhibitioned on bars twice.

Brittany won the NCAA Regional Beam as a junior in 2008. She was on the Dean's List and was a Scholastic All-American. Brittany was also on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She competed on vault and beam throughout the season. She competed four floor routines. Unfortunately, she only competed at three meets as a senior before tearing her Achilles. She was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
