Shea Mahoney was born on January 28, 1998. She trained at Crystal Lake Gymnastics. She began training at Legacy Elite Gymnastics in the summer of 2010. She will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2007, Shea competed level five. She finished third on floor at the Midwest Open. She competed level six in 2008. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. Shea competed level seven in 2009. She finished first on floor and second all-around at the Bravo Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she won the all-around title. Shea finished fourth all-around at the Hardrock Invitational. At the State Championships, she finished second on bars and fourth all-around. Shea competed level eight in 2010. She finished first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Harley Davidson Invite.

Shea moved up to level nine in 2011. She finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. At the Bravo Classic, she won floor. She finished first on beam and second on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first on beam, second on floor and fourth all-around. Shea won beam, floor and the all-around at Easterns! She also placed third on vault and fourth on bars.
