Makenzie Anderson was born on December 5, 1996. She trained at All American Gymnastics in South Dakota through the 2009 season. She then moved to Twin City Twisters. She will graduate from high school in 2015.

In 2008, Makenzie competed level eight. She qualified to Regionals. She continued competing level eight in 2009. She won vault and bars at the Northern Lights Invitational. At the Beach Party meet, she won all five gold medals. Makenzie moved up to level nine in 2010. She won vault and the all-around at the Gopher Women's Invitational. At the Winter Challenge, she placed second all-around. Makenzie won the all-around title at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished second all-around at the Long Beach Open. She placed first on beam and floor at the Northern lights Invitational. At the State Championships, Makenzie finished first on vault and fifth all-around. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Regional Championships. Makenzie placed fourth on vault and the all-around at Westerns. She placed second on bars.
