Samantha Marrero was born on August 9, 1992. Her younger sister, Alexandra, is also a gymnast. Samantha began gymnastics at the age of ten at Spins Gymnastics. She followed her coach to Gold Medal Gymnastics Center where she trained most of her club career. She graduated from high school in 2011.
In 2004, Samantha competed level six. She won the all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level seven in 2005. She finished second all-around at the State Championships. Samantha competed level eight in 2006. She won the all-around title at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on vault and second on floor. Samantha moved up to level nine in 2007. She finished second on vault at the Brestyan Invitational. She placed third all-around at Regionals. She competed at Easterns. Samantha continued competing level nine in 2008. She began competing level ten in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Brestyan Invitational. She won vault and floor at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Little Bigger Invite, she finished second al-around. She placed third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on bars. She competed at JO Nationals. Samantha finished third on beam at the 2010 Brestyan Invitational. She won beam at the IGI Chicago Style. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. She finished 23rd all-around at JO Nationals.
As a freshman at SEMO in 2011, Samantha competed in the all-around at Illinois State. She competed on beam in eight additional meets. She also competed on bars at Denver and vault against Western Michigan.
