Cassie Martin was born to Dan and Melba in Takoma Park, Maryland, on December 13, 1987. She began gymnastics at the age of five at Hill's. She has two sisters, Resa and Becki, and two brothers, David and Chris. Cassie competed level five at the age of eight and level six at the age of nine. She skipped level seven and went to eight at the age of ten. Cassie spent two years as a level nine. She reached level ten at the age of thirteen.
In 1999, Cassie competed as a level nine. She finished third all-around at the Sectional Championships. At States, she finished fifth all-around and second on floor. Cassie barely missed placing in the top ten at regionals. However, she still qualified to Easterns. At Easterns, Cassie finished second on beam. She competed level nine again in 2000. Cassie won the all-around state title. She competed in her second Eastern Championships.
Her first year as a level ten was in 2001. She qualified to Regionals. In 2002, Cassie won the Premier Invitational. She finished first on floor at States. At Regionals, Cassie placed third on beam. 2003 was her best season yet. She won the Maryland Classic. Cassie took first place on bars, beam and all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won every event except for vault! This qualified her for JO Nationals. In Colorado, she won the all-around, bars and floor titles! Cassie also placed second on beam. She also competed two meets as an elite. She did well at the Podium Meet. At the US Challenge, Cassie placed second overall as a senior national elite.
Cassie competed level ten in 2004 and 2005. In 2004, she finished in the top four at JO Nationals. Cassie had a bad back injury in 2005. She did finish second all-around at the Maryland Classic and fourth at the Parkette Invite. She began her college career at the University of Alabama in the fall. She competed bars, beam and floor throughout the season. She was a Scholastic All American and Academic All-Sec honoree.
During her sophomore year, she competed on uneven bars only. She set a career high. She was third on bars at the Regional Championships. She was a Schoalstic All-American and on the Academic All-SEC team. As a junior, she continued competing on bars. She was a Schoalstic All-American and on the Academic All-SEC team. She retired following her junior year.
