Ashley Martyniak was born on March 11, 1998. She trained at Salto Gymnastics until 2008. She then moved to Swiss Turners.

In 2006, Ashley competed level seven. She made the National TOPs Diamond Team. She moved up to level eight in 2007. She qualified for Regionals. Ashley made the National TOPs Team in the fall. In 2008, Ashley continued to compete level eight. She won a bronze medal on beam at the IGI Chicago Classic. At the Wisconsin Dells Vacation Classic, she finished second on bars. Ashley placed second on bars, fourth on beam and eighth all-around at the State Championships. She ended her level eight season at Regionals. She made the National TOPs "B" Team in the fall.

Ashley moved up to level nine in 2009. She placed in the top ten at the OGC Invitational and Harley Invitational. She also participated in elite qualifiers.
