Maliah Mathis was born on June 28, 1992. She trained at USA Aerial Athletics in San Antonio, Texas during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2010.
In 2003, Maliah competed level seven. She placed third on vault and second on floor at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2004. She finished second on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on beam. She competed level nine in 2005. She finished fourth on floor at the WOGA Classic. In 2006, Maliah competed level ten. She placed third on beam at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. At the State Championships, she won vault and placed in the top fifteen. Maliah placed first on beam and eleventh all-around at Regionals.
She continued competing level ten in 2007. She finished third on vault at the State Championships. She qualified for JO Nationals at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed second on vault. Maliah finished third on vault and beam at the 2008 State Championships. At Regionals, she won floor and placed second on vault. She had a strong 2009 season. She finished second all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. At the Alamo Classic, she scored a perfect ten on vault. She won vault at the Rose City Classic. She finished first on vault and second all-around at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals.
Maliah ended her club career in 2010. She won vault and the all-around at the Ricky Deci Invitational. She finished second at the Texas Prime Meet and third at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. Maliah won vault, bars and the all-around at the WOGA Classic. She won vault and floor at the Long Beach Open. She qualified to compete at the Nastia Liukin Cup. At the State Championships, Maliah placed second. She won vault and the all-around at Regionals. She finished sixth on vault at JO Nationals.
