Mackenzie Caquatto was born on March 26, 1992. Mackenzie's little sister, Bridgey, is also a gymnast. Mackenzie trained at Aerial Gymnastics in Downers Grove, Illinois, until the summer of 2008. She moved to Naperville Gymnastics. In March of 2010, her coaches opened Legacy Elite Gymnastics. Mackenzie has signed with the University of Florida.

She began gymnastics at the age of two in a mother-daughter class at Elite Sports Complex with Nancy King. Mackenzie has loved the sport ever since. Mackenzie also participated in rhythmic gymnastics at Elite Rhythmics under Maria Barakova. She qualified for the Future Stars National Team. Because of time constraints, Mackenzie was eventually forced to pick between rhythmic and artistic gymnastics.

Mackenzie was very successful at all levels of the junior olympic program. She finished third all-around at Level 8 Regionals in 2004. She jumped up to level ten in 2005. Mackenzie won the state beam title that year. In 2006, she won her first level ten state all-around title. She also participated in her first JO National Championships! Unfortunately, her performance was hampered by food poisoning.

In 2007, Mackenzie had the greatest year of her career. She won the level 10 State and Regional titles! She also became the JO National Champion! Shortly before JO Nationals, she qualified to junior international elite. Mackenzie competed at the US Classic and qualified to the US National Championships. She finished her season with a top twenty finish. In December, she won bars at the St. Nick Invitational.

She opened 2008 with the Sand Dollar Invitational. She won bars and beam. At the Dragon Invitational, she successfully qualified to junior international elite. The next day, she won bars, beam and the all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished second all-around and first on bars and beam at the Circle of the Stars meet. At the Midwest Open, she swept the gold medals. Mackenzie qualified to the US National Championships at the May Elite Qualifier. She had the third highest score. At the US Classic, Mackenzie finished fourth all-around. She won vault. At the US National Championships, she made her first national team. She also qualified for the Olympic Trials.

In 2009, she won bars at the Twistar's Invitational. She received her first international assignment to the USA vs. Japan meet. She won vault and placed second all-around. Mackenzie was later picked for the European Tour. She finished third all-around against Germany and second against France. She recovered from a knee injury to compete on uneven bars at the US Classic in July. Mackenzie competed all-around at the US National Championships, finishing fifth. She won a bronze medal on bars. In October, she was named an alternate for the World Championships. In December, she won a silver medal on bars at the Toyota International. In 2010, Mackenzie finished first all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. She represented the United States at the Trofeo Citta di-Jesolo where she won bars and beam. Mackenzie finished third all-around at the US Classic. At the Visa Championships, she placed fourth on bars and fifth all-around. Mackenzie was named to the World Championship team. She competed in the all-around in team preliminaries. She competed on vault and bars in team finals to help the United States team place second.

As a freshman at Florida in 2011, Mackenzie won the all-around against Alabama. She also won bars and beam against Alabama. This performance earned her SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Mackenzie won bars at NCAA Regionals. She claimed a total of ten event titles throughout the season including six on bars, three on beam and one all-around.
