Kalliah McCartney was born on November 8, 1992. Her younger sister, McElle, is a level nine gymnast and will graduate in 2014. Kalliah trained at Naydenov Gymnastics through the 2009 season. She then moved to Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC). She will graduate from high school in 2011.

Kalliah began competing in 2000. In 2001, she competed level seven. She moved up to level eight in 2002. She competed at Regionals. Kalliah competed level nine in 2003, finishing fourth all-around at the Rainier Cup. She continued competing level nine in 2004. She finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. Kalliah finished third on floor at the State Championships. At Westerns, she finished 12th all-around. She began competing level ten in 2005. She finished second at the Surf City Classic. She won beam and floor at the State Championships where she also placed second all-around. Kalliah finished first on bars and second all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 21st all-around.

In 2006, Kalliah finished second on vault at the All American Invitational. She won floor at the Emerald Team Challenge. Kalliah won bars, floor and the all-around at Regionals. She finished in the top ten on floor at JO Nationals. Kalliah won bars at the Lady Luck Invitational in 2007. She won beam at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first on beam and second all-around. Kalliah finished 26th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2008, Kalliah won bars at the Battle in Seattle. She won beam at the Emerald Team Challenge. She had a strong performance at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third all-around. She finished her season at JO Nationals.

Kalliah won floor and the all-around at the Great West Gym Fest in 2009. She won vault and floor at the Emerald Team Challenge. She finished second on floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won beam and the all-around. Kalliah placed ninth on beam and 31st all-around at JO Nationals. With her new gym in 2010, she won beam, floor and the all-around at the World Cup Invitational, All American Invitational, and MAC Open. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. Kalliah finished first on floor at the Emerald Team Challenge. At Regionals, she won floor and the all-around. She finished 23rd all-around at JO Nationals.
