Haley McDowell was born on May 12, 1997. She trained at GAGE until the summer of 2010. She then moved to Xtreme in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

In 2006, Haley competed level six. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Show Me Invitational. At State, she won beam, floor and the all-around. Haley moved up to level seven in 2007. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. At the State Championships, Haley won bars, floor and the all-around.

She moved up to level eight in 2008. She won beam at the IGHOF Invitational. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. Haley competed level nine in 2009. She won a silver medal on bars and a gold medal on floor. Her next meet was Westerns where she finished fifth all-around. She placed third on beam and second on floor. In 2010, Haley competed level ten. She finished first on bars at the KC Co-Ed Invitational. She won bars at the Dragon Invitational. Haley placed fifth all-around at State. She finished third all-around and first on beam at Regionals. Her final meet of the season was JO Nationals where she finished third on beam, sixth on floor and seventh all-around.
