Nicole McGarel was born on April 21, 1993. She trained at Aerial Gymnastics Club in Illinois until midway through the 2004 season. She then moved to Midwest Academy of Gymnastics. She began training at Phenom Gymnastics after the gyms merged. She will graduate from high school in 2011.
In 2003, Nicole competed level eight. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. She moved up to level nine in 2004. She finished in the top twenty at Regionals. Nicole continued competing level nine in 2005. She finished third on beam at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on vault and bars. Nicole finished second on bars and 14th all-around at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2006. She finished eighth all-around at Regionals, earning an alternate spot for JO Nationals.
Nicole continued competing level ten in 2007. She did not compete in the championship season. In 2008, Nicle finished first on bars and in the all-around at the Gasparilla Classic. She finished third on vault at both the Bravo Classic and For Love or Money meet. Nicole won vault, bars and the all-around at the Cupid's Twist. At JO Nationals, she placed sixth on beam and 13th all-around. In 2009, Nicole won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the For Love or Money meet. At the Midwest Open, she won bars, floor and the all-around. Nicole placed third on floor at the Arena Classic. She finished fourth all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, Nicole finished 16th all-around.
In 2010, Nicole finished second on vault at the For Love or Money meet. She won vault at the Dream Classic. At the State Championships, she placed second on vault. Nicole won vault at Regionals where she also placed second all-around. She did not compete at JO Nationals.
