Sydney McGlone was born on March 12, 1997. In 2000, she began her gymnastics career at the age of three by taking classes at Gahanna Cyclone Gymnastics in Blacklick, Ohio. She moved to Universal Gymnasts, Inc., in Hilliard, Ohio after the 2010 season. Sydney will graduate from high school in 2015.

In 2003, Sydney began her competitive career as a level four. She won the all-around title at the State Championships. Sydney began competing in the optional levels in 2005. She scored a 9.8 on vault at her first level seven meet. She competed level eight in 2006. Her season was cut short by an ankle injury. She returned to compete level nine in 2007-2008. She won the all-around title at the first meet. During her season, she showed strong results on her favorite event, which is floor. She even performed her floor routine in front of thousands at the Arnold Classic Opening Ceremony! She qualified to Regionals as an event specialist on vault and floor.

Sydney continued competing level nine in 2009. Sydney finished first on floor at the Twistars Invitational, IGI Chicago Style and Buckeye Classic. She won the floor title at Regionals, where she also placed tenth all-around. She moved up to level ten in 2010. She placed second all-around at the Universal Galaxy Meet. Sydney finished in the top five all-around at the State Championships. She qualified for Regionals. In 2011, Sydney finished first all-around at the Arnold Classic. She finished first on floor and second on vault in Event Finals. She was the Columbus Rotary Scholarship Recipient, which is given to the top level ten at the Arnold Challenge. She placed in the top three all-around at the Universal Galaxy Meet, Tampa Bay Turners Invitational and Athlete Warrior Challenge.

In 2012, Sydney finishd third all-around at the Universal Galaxy Invite. She placed first on vault, floor and the all-around at the Circle of Stars meet. At the Queen City Classic, she won vault, floor and the all-around. She competed at the Nastia Liukn Cup. Sydney finished first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first on floor and second all-around. She qualified to JO Nationals.
