Carol Lynn McNamara was born on September 6, 1985. She is the daughter of Patrick and Rita McNamara. She has one brother, Louis and one sister, Lee. She has a dog named Hasty. She trained at TAGS South during her club career. She graduated from Hastings High School in 2003 as Valedictorian.
In 2000, Carol won her first level ten State Title. She won again in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2001, Carol placed ninth on bars and beam at the JO National Championships. She finished seventh all-around. To qualify for the JO Nationals, she won Regionals. Carol won Regionals again in 2002. At JO Nationals, she finished sixth on vault and ninth on floor. She placed second all-around at Regionals in 2003. She competed at the JO National Championships for the third time.
At the University of Michigan, Carol placed third on vault at the Big Ten Championships in her freshman year. She mainly competed on vault and floor. In 2005, she competed on beam at the NCAA Championships. She also competed on every event throughout the season. In her junior season, she was NCAA All-American second team on floor. She was All-Big Ten second team. She won the Big Ten Championships on floor. Carol was co-vault Champion. So far in her senior season she has earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades. She competed on vault, bars and floor. As a senior, Carol competed on vault and floor.
