Jasmine Minion was born on June 19, 1989. She trained at River City Gymnastics through the 2004 season. She then moved to GymStars. In the spring of 2006, Jasmine began training at Memphis Point Gymnastics. She graduated from high school in 2007.

In 2003, Jasmine competed level nine. SHe finished eighth on vault, second on floor and eighth all-around at Easterns. In 2004, she finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals. She competed level ten in 2006. She finished first on floor and seventh all-around at Regionals, after scratching from the State Championships. At JO Nationals, she placed eighth on vault. Jasmine finished 26th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2007, Jasmine won the vault title at the State Championships. She competed at JO Nationals.

As a freshman at Utah State in 2008, Jasmine earned second-team All-WAC honors on vault. She was named WAC Gymnastics Specialist of the Week. She qualified to compete on vault as an individual for NCAA Regionals. She won vault against Sac State. Jasmine also won vault at Cal State Fullerton. She won a third vault title at Southern Utah. Jasmine won both vault and floor against San Jose State. She finished first on floor at the TWU Quad meet. She also won vault in a home meet against Southern Utah. As a sophomore at Kentucky in 2009, Jasmine competed in every meet on vault and floor. She won vault and floor at Iowa. Jasmine also won floor at Alaska. As a junior, she competed on three events. She won vault against Auburn and floor against both TWU and Ohio State.
