Mary Angela "Angel" Metcalf was born on October 14, 1995. She trained at Cedar Point Gymnastics through the 2007 season. She then moved to Step Ahead for two years. Mary Angela then moved to New Bern Gymnastics. She began training at Internationl in the fall of 2011. She will graduate from high school in 2013.
In 2006, Mary Angela competed level six. She won vault and placed third all-around at the Ghost and Goblin meet. She moved up to level seven in 2007. She won beam at the State Championships. Mary Angela began competing level eight in 2008. She finished third on vault at the Winter Fun Invitational. In 2009, she placed second all-around at the Sweetheart meet. She won bars at the Make an Impact meet. Mary Angela finished in the top fifteen at the State Championships. Mary Angela finished first on bars, beam and the all-around at the 2010 Sweetheart meet. She won all five gold medals at the Peace, Love & Gymnastics meet. At the State Championships, she won vault, beam and the all-around. Mary Angela finished second all-around at Regionals.
Mary Angela began competing level ten in 2011. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Judges Cup. At the Sweetheart meet, she finished fourth all-around. Mary Angela finished in the top ten at the State Championships. She placed second on beam. She competed at Regionals.
