Laura Moffatt was born on July 8, 1992. She trained at Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2009.
In 2001, Laura competed level five. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Trick or Treat meet. She competed level seven in 2004. She finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Vegas Vacation. She moved up to level eight in 2005. She finished fourth all-around at the Cancun Classic. In 2006, she competed level nine. She placed sixth all-around at Regionals. She qualified to Easterns.
Laura competed level ten in 2008. She won bars at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished second all-around at the Atlanta Crown Invitational and National Gymnastics Challenge. She finished tenth all-around at Regionals. In 2009, Laura won beam at the Flip Fest Invitational. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. She won bars at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals. In 2010, Laura won bars at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She won the all-around titles at the Universal Invitational and Mardi Gras Invitational. At the State Championships, she won bars. Laura placed second on floor at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed seventh on bars. She finished 25th all-around.
As a freshman at Georgia in 2011, Laura competed on beam against Auburn. She also competed on beam at the SEC Championships.
