Katelyn Mohr was born on August 19, 1991. She has a younger sister, Shannon, who is a level nine gymnast. Katelyn trained at Byers Roseville. In 2004, she began competing for Byers Sacramento.
In 2002, she competed as a level nine. She comepted at the Flips USA Invite and Friendship Challenge. Katelyn also competed as a level nine in 2005. In 2005, she competed as a level ten. She won the WOGA Classic. At States, she finished third all-around and won vault. At Regionals she won the same two medals plus a silver on floor. She ended her season at JO Nationals.
Katelyn had a very successful 2006 season. She won the all-around title at States and Regionals as well as the vault title at both of those meets. She finished fifth all-around at the JO National Championships! In July, Katelyn made junior international elite at a qualifier in Las Vegas. She competed at the US Classic and qualified to the National Championships! She finished in the top twenty.
She continued on the elite path in 2007. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Crystal Cup. At the Golden State Classic, she won bars and the all-around. At the WOGA Classic, under elite rules, she won the all-around title. Katelyn won bars and floor at the AOGC Invitational. At the Byer's Invitational she again won bars. At the US Classic, Katelyn finished third on floor and fourth all-around. She qualified for the US National Championships. She finished 13th all-around. Katelyn started 2008 by sweeping the gold medals at the Brestyan's Invitational. She won every event except for beam at the California Classic. She won bars at the Golden State Classic. She competed at her third US National Championships in the summer.
Katelyn decided to return to level ten for her senior season. She placed second on floor at the WOGA Classic. At the Long Beach Open, she won a silver medal on beam and a bronze medal on vault. She placed second on beam and third on floor at the Byer's Invitational. At States, she won silver medals on vault, beam and the all-around. Katelyn had her best meet of the season at Regionals. She won bars, beam and the all-around. She finished eleventh all-around at JO Nationals. As a freshman at Utah in 2010, she struggled with a pre-existing back injury. She competed on vault three times, floor twice and beam once. She performed eight exhibition routines. Katelyn was a NACGC Scholastic All-American and Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete.
